Amit Bhatia, through Sunbeam US Holdings LLC, has acquired a stake in Roc Capital Management LP, a New York based quantitative focused hedge fund in the first week of January 2011. Roc Capital was started by Arvind Raghunathan, former head of Deutsche Bank AG’s global arbitrage business, and was one of the largest hedge-fund start ups in 2009 with almost $1 billion in assets at the time of our investment. Roc Capital Management LP is supported by Vistasoft India (P) Limited, an exclusive service provider to Roc Capital.

Started in 2001, Vistasoft India (P) is a privately held company based out of Chennai, India which provides “buy side” equity research and software services. By employing top academic personnel, (currently over 50 people), the depth of understanding and analysis undertaken is far ahead of industry standard. Research analysts perform fundamental equity research in US and European markets with the aim of generating alpha in a market neutral portfolio. The equity analysts apply both a top-down and bottom-up approach to form stock strategies. Analysts estimate sensitivity to key factors and keep track of stock valuations. Based on economy-industry trends / changes in trends, the analysts advise on stock recommendations. News and stock stories are updated as and when they are released along with estimation of directional impact. Vistasoft supports algorithm based trading and database management.

Amit Bhatia is pleased to announce the registration of his new grant-awarding charity, Global Relief Initiative, under Charity number 1139246. Global Relief Initiative was set up and registered late last year and has the particular aim of making financial and other contributions to fellow charities, organisations and individuals, which, in turn, use such contributions to further and enhance their line of social change.

Swordfish’s involvement throughout the build process has been exceptional and we are all very much looking forward to working in such a vibrant and dynamic office building located in the heart of Mayfair. We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Fund Assistant, Davina Dettmer. Davina joined with us this month having graduated from Durham University earlier in the summer. At Durham, she attained a BA (Hons) Combined Honours in Social Sciences degree by studying Philosophy and Sociology.

Swordfish Investments purchased a stake in this asset in 2007. Since then we have been pleased to see the company go from strength to strength. It is now the largest in-store media operator in Europe and is well positioned to profit in emerging markets in Asia and Eastern Europe. We are happy to announce that the shareholders have reached an agreement with Fluid Music Canada Inc. Fluid have signed a deal to buy all Mood MEdia’s outstanding shares and debt for €160m. The acquisition should be completed by June 4th 2010.
